Top 12 Cheapest States to Buy a Home in 2023 (Not Idaho)
Idaho is filling up too fast.
Does anyone disagree?

Why do people keep moving here?
People think Idaho is one of the cheapest states to buy a house, and I think that's one reason so many people continue to move here. Well, that may have been true at one point, but it's not true anymore! Considering the rest of the country, there are actually A LOT of other places to live where it's much cheaper to buy a house.
There's a recent article from Rocket Mortgage that shares the cheapest states to buy a home, and according to their data, it looks like Idaho hasn't been in the top 20 since at least before 2021. So, for a couple of years now, there have been other, way more affordable places to buy a home.
In the year 2022, Rocket Mortgage said Tennessee was the cheapest state to buy a house in, and Oregon was the most expensive state to buy a house in, with the average house price being $514,568.
