This Father Won’t Vaccinate His Child – OPP

On Other People's Problems, this couple is expecting their first child. She never imagined that her husband would refuse to vaccinate their child.

Mike & Kate-
I am 6 months pregnant with my first child. My husband and I have been married for 2 years. I thought we had discussed almost everything before we got engaged; do you want kids, where should we live, whose insurance will we use...etc. There is one question I never even thought to ask and now it has become a huge fight in our home. I just assumed he would want to vaccinate our children but he is completely against it. I could not imagine protecting my child. All of this came to light with the recent measles outbreak.
My husband says vaccines have serious and sometimes fatal side effects that aren't worth the risk. he says they have harmful ingredients. He claims our unborn child will have all he needs to fight off any illness that he gets. "The human body is born prepared." He says he doesn't care if the school requires it. He won't let anyone tell him how to raise his child.
I off course are on the other side of this argument. Vaccines save children's lives. Obviously with measles making such a fierce comeback, we need vaccines because not all of those diseases have disappeared.
I am starting to panic. How do we come to an agreement on this? What happens to my child if we can't agree? Can you please ask and see if any other parents have disagreed on vaccinations.
