Due to the resignation of the Trustee in Zone 3, the West Ada School District is searching for someone to fill the seat. Idaho Statute section 33-504 requires the seat be filled, and you can click here to apply. Criteria and eligibility for the role are as follows:

The applicant must:

  • be over 18 years old
  • be a registered voter
  • live in the zone they are applying for (Zone 3)
  • provide a current resume
  • not be an employee of the West Ada School District
  • attend regularly scheduled meetings and special meetings (Calendar of regular meeting schedule is established in January)
  • attend high school graduations

If you tick all these boxes, go for it! The application is open and available until 5:00 p.m., November 4. While I do live in Zone 3, I'd probably have an issue with all the scheduled meetings. My calendar is already crazy as can be. Not to mention I don't know anything about the governance of schools.

The Board of Trustees will be interviewing applicants during their regularly scheduled meeting on November 17th and will appoint the new Trustee during said meeting. Swearing in will take place on December 8th and the new Trustee will serve the remainder of the unexpired term through January 1, 2022.

If you're not interested in actually being on the board, you can at least submit a question for the applicants to answer during the interview process. Click here to submit your question to The Board. I'd like to submit one, but I don't know where to start. Any suggestions?
