Idaho was one of the lucky states, with only one store on the list of closures, that being the J.C. Penney at the Snake River Mall in Burley. All other stores are safe for now, including the stores located here in the Boise and Nampa area.
Most stores will begin liquidation sales April 17 and close for good by July 1st. According to a J.C. Penney spokesman, “the closures will affect as many as 5,000 workers. Some will receive transfer opportunities and some will be let go.” J.C. Penney will continue to operate nearly 900 other stores located across the U.S.
