If you’ve ever been in serious debt, you know how exasperating it can feel. It can be overwhelming and feel downright impossible to crawl out of sometimes.

Emma Mumford managed to pay off nearly $10,000 in debt in just two years. It all started in 2013 when she was 19 years old and took out a loan to pay off her then-boyfriend’s debt. Today, she’s not only rid of the boyfriend, she’s also rid of the debt. She said it's all thanks to Extreme couponing!

I've watched all the crazy couponing shows on TV. I even took an online course on how to become a better coupon clipper! I have never been able to find the deals that other people find or stick to it for very long before I get frustrated.

Emma said she spent hours on “savvy shopping and scouring the Internet for vouchers.” It allowed her to save nearly $285 a week! Another trick she used was cash-back apps and sites. Apps like Ibotta and ebates.com are two of the most popular right now.

Another smart choice that she made in her quest to make her earnings from her part time job stretch further, is to contact companies she owed money to and explain her situation, which in some cases led to the debt being discounted. Emma started a blog called Coupon Queen to share her tips and tricks with others.

I have a friend that has colored binders with tabs and she always knows which days of the week are the best deals and discounts at which stores. I WISH I could do that!

Are you a coupon clipper? What are some of your tips and tricks for me just starting...again?
