Boise Parks To Offer Free Lunch During The Summer Time
83,000 children in the Treasure Valley depend on hot lunches during the school year. Now that the final bells have rung and the kids are out to play, where will those lunches come from?
The Idaho Foodbank , The US Department of Agriculture on top of a number of local non profits and organizations are launching "Picnic In The Park". This new initiative will provide free lunches for kids in need during the summer months. Yesterday (June 6th 2016) Gov. Butch Otter declared it Summer Food Service Awareness Day. Through out the summer Picnic In The Park will provide up to 52,000 free meals for lil ones hungry and up to the age of 18.
