Any Tips on Curbing Anxiety Before Bedtime?
We all have different things that cause us stress or cause us to build anxiety, and recently for me it happens late at night as I am preparing for the next day. I will worry about getting my clothes ready in the morning, or stress that I don't have enough to talk about on the radio. It's nothing that anyone else causes, but I get into my own head and create a problem that doesn't need to be there.
After noticing this problem becoming more and more persistent I did what everyone does... I googled it. I was just looking for some simple solutions to help me shut off my brain at night. As I was looking around and found a few websites with suggestions I saw some of the same answers popping up on multiple sites so I am going to begin by working on these 4 steps first.
- Turn off electronics. These devices can often add to your stress level so I am going to try and not look at my phone 30 minutes prior to going to bed.
- Pick a bedtime and stick with it. Getting a good night sleep is so important to your overall health, I need to make this more of a priority.
- Exercise before bed. Sometimes when we get to bed our body and mind are still moving so fast, try to make yourself tired before jumping under the covers.
- Try some calm music as you go to sleep. I don't have a problem falling asleep but I often wake up multiple times throughout the night thinking that I have overslept my alarm, hopefully some soothing music can help.
Those are going to be my first steps to try and relax and not have so much anxiety before going to bed. Although if you've dealt with the same issue and have an idea that has worked great for you please let me know. You can always email me at billy.jenkins@townsquaremedia.com
