Here’s another scam to add to the list along with the jury duty, tax scam, and IRS scam.

A call that appears to come from local businesses, a government agency, or even friend, could be someone else trying to sell something or figure out another way to scam you out of a good deal of money.

The process is called "caller ID spoofing". The Ada County Sheriff’s Office says it's becoming more and more widespread.

Here are a couple of things to remember to protect yourself from being a victim.

The #1 thing to remember is, the Ada County Sheriff's Office employees, including deputies, will never call you and ask for a credit card number.

Don’t EVER give out ANY personal information when getting an unsolicited phone call.

Scammers might be getting more clever with their scams, but if you follow the basic rule of never giving them any information that they can use, you'll be in the clear!

If you have received one of these scam phone calls and didn’t realize it until now, you are urged to contact the Ada County Sheriff's Office or the Better Business Bureau.
