An avalanche at Silver Mountain Resort in Kellogg, Idaho has claimed the lives of two people and injured 5 others.

The avalanche happened yesterday at about 11 a.m. near Wardner Peak and the difficult runs had only been open for a short time after avalanche control blasting in the area. The blasting was of course supposed to prevent something like this from happening, but sometime Mother Nature works against us despite our efforts.

According to an article on idahonews.com, one of the deceased was found about 10 feet under snow and the other skier killed in the tragedy was found after sunset.

The names of those affected have not been released, but this accident is another reminder  how fragile and precious life is.

Please keep everyone affected by this in your thoughts and prayers. We'll keep you updated as this story develops.
