We Are Lucky to Have Bogus Basin so Close
There are many things that make living in the Treasure Valley great. Over the last couple weeks, I've been reminded how lucky I feel to have Bogus Basin in our backyard.
I got done with work yesterday around 3:45 p.m. and decided a few runs on the new snowboard were in order. I work downtown, so for me, the trip up the hill took about 35 minutes.
By 4:30 I was geared up and on the lift, and enjoying some spectacular views of the Valley. The snow conditions were pretty good - just a little icy in a couple spots - and sunset was coming up fast.
The colors (as is the case with many of our Treasure Valley sunsets) was incredible, and the vantage point high above the city below made it even sweeter.
The sky looked like it was on fire for a good 20 minutes and I stopped my runs a couple times just to grab photos. It was too amazing not to.
As I came back down the hill, I stopped for a haircut, and I was talking with my stylist about how fortunate I feel to have a ski hill close enough to jump up after work, roads that are usually clear enough not to be a problem, and an activity that helps me do something good for me that also offers the chance to appreciate the beauty of the place we call home.
It also doesn't hurt that I've got a new board I'm loving using and many more runs to get more comfortable on.
My plan is to do the after-work model again Thursday. We're fortunate to have such a great place so close to home.
