The President of the United States is coming to Boise. On Wednesday President Obama will speak at Boise State University. President Obama's State of the Union address is tomorrow night and then he will be traveling throughout the country to discuss the themes from Tuesday night's address.

On a personal note, I made the mistake of clicking on this news story on Facebook Friday night. There were over 700 comments and I sadly clicked on them. 3 days later and I am still bothered by the hate and racism I saw from people that I share the Treasure Valley with. The posts were absolutely disgusting. I hope the Secret Service has now contacted those that were calling for the President's assassination.

I understand that some reading this will think that I am a fan of President Obama. Whether I like him or not has nothing to do with this. Respecting the Office of the President of the United States does. Racism and ignorance are not inherited. They are taught. Posting those sick comments for all to see (including your children) keeps the problem alive and growing.

You claim you're so patriotic yet you use that language? Patriotism means you show respect for the Office of the President. And if you have to sit on your hands to refrain from posting your hate in order to do that, so be it. You're not a Democrat. That's your right. You didn't vote for Obama. That's your right. You're disappointed in the President. That's your right. You want to express you're upset. That's your right. But there is never a time when it is okay to be "calling for a Kennedy repeat in Dallas." Or posting emojicon's of guns. Using the N-word, shame on you. Find an educated way to express your opinion. And if you're outraged that President Obama is coming to Boise, that's an easy one...Just don't go! When I moved here, all I ever heard was "Idaho's Too Great For Hate." Let's get back to that.
