Storm Update: Snow With Up to 15 Inches in Some Areas of Treasure Valley
Since Tuesday we've seen a little bit of a change in Boise with only 2 to 5 inches of snow expected, but the western Treasure Valley could still see 8 to 15 inches before Friday....
A winter storm watch has been issued for the Treasure valley From 5am Wednesday to 5am Thursday with a Winter storm warning for the west central and Boise Mountains, which are expecting up to two feet of snow this week.
I-84 between Ontario and Pendelton has been closed all night because of blowing snow and hazardous driving conditions and that's what is headed our way with snow beginning around 6am and lasting most of the day...possibly turning to a rain and snow mix later this after noon so your commute home could be ugly.
We are getting a best case scenario for Boise with this storm system, with about 2 to 5 inches of snow, but the western Treasure valley which has already been hammered this winter (Ontario, Weiser, Payette area) is going to see an additional 8 to 15 inches of snow over the next 48 hours.(1/18 to 1/19)
So.Snowpocolypse 2017 part Deux, will hit the Treasure valley but the Boise Nampa area looks like it will be spared. Listen every morning to Mike and Nicole from 5:30 to 10, for the latest on road closures and school closings.
The Boise and West Central Mountains will get hammered this week with up to 2 feet of new snow expected before Friday. It will probably be best to avoid traveling any of the mountain roads as blowing and drifting snow is expected ...at the very least check the Idaho Road Report line by calling 511 before you travel.
Only time will tell how bad this storm system will hit us, but it's always better to prepare for the worst and hope for the best...so that's what I'm doing.
