Reta Huskey Park Opens in Meridian Neighborhood
The City of Meridian hosted a grand opening celebration for its new Reta Huskey Park yesterday at 2887 W. Tubac Drive. This 8.9-acre neighborhood park sits along the Five Mile Creek in the Bellano Creek Subdivision, off N. Ten Mile Road between Ustick and McMillan.
The land for the park was donated to the City of Meridian by Coleman Homes. The park features a walking path, playground, sport court, picnic shelter/restroom combo, climbing items, exercise equipment, and three pickleball courts. If you've never heard of pickleball, it's a lot like tennis, but played with a paddle instead of a tennis racquet!
The park is named after Reta Huskey, a woman who grew up on the property, along with her five siblings, when it was a 120-acre ranch. Her brother, Leonard, used to duck hunt along the Five Mile Creek and wanted to name the park after his sister, who loved to grow roses and geraniums. The new park includes several design elements that pay tribute to Reta Huskey’s devotion to her family and her love of flowers.
It's absolutely beautiful and I know families are going to love to play, enjoy picnics, and stay active together! Check it out!
