Dog owners in the Treasure Valley and most specifically in Boise will have a new place to take their four-legged family members soon as the new Dog Island in Ann Morrison Park is opening soon!

Idaho News, jumped on the story first with the details on the $450,000 new off-leash area that should be opening toward the middle of July. The official ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for July 30th.

Cleaning the pond was the most expensive part of the project, the pond had never previously been drained in the 60 years of existence.

There were multiple people and organizations that helped out. Together Treasure Valley donated $50,000, the Harry Morrison Foundation also donated $50,000. The City of Boise picked up the tab for the rest of the project.

The park will even have ramps for dogs to get in and out of the water easier. Hopefully with the dogs occupying the park, the ducks and geese will find a new place to spend their summer days.
