New Owners-Same Great Fresh Made Food at “On The Fly” Deli in Downtown Boise
Downtown Boise has become a mecca for foodies lately, with new restaurants of all types and sizes popping up left and right. A stop in downtown is convenient for me after the morning show so I'm one of those people who is always searching for a great lunch spot at a great price....and I recently found one that I have to share with you!
On the Fly is under new ownership. Udi and Chrishani Gunathilake recently purchased the downtown deli from Dustan Bristol, but nothing has changed...same great fresh food made daily at a great price..the only thing that has changed according to the chef is fresh daily made muffins.
Now I love On the Fly for a couple reasons...it's located close to my work, they are fast and you can find deli lunches for under $5. That's a better price than fast food places and I can order my food and have it delivered too. (BONUS)
On The Fly, located on the second floor of Zion Bank building at 8th and Main and they are known for their fresh daily made soups, salads, and gourmet sandwiches.....Most of which are in the $5 and under range.
The owners are also known for putting creative spins on traditional deli foods like their house-roasted beef sandwich with Bearnaise Aioli and arugula, balsamic kale salads, house-pickled eggs roasted cauliflower soup and more. All of the ingredients are fresh including their bread, made locally at Gaston's Bakery.
And one big thing that I really love is they give back to the Boise community every single day, by donating each day's leftovers to local charities. Think about that...no food goes to waste by getting thrown out...people who would otherwise go hungry are getting some amazing food from On the Fly.
On The Fly is open Monday-Friday from 8am-6pm. While grab-and-go meals are available, the deli is also a great place to dine in...their soups are excellent.
