Dear Mike and Nicole,

My husband and I have two sons, 7 and 11. My husband’s brother has three children, 12, 10, and 4.

Neither of my boys is interested in sports, but my brother-in-law’s children are involved in quite a few. The grandparents (my husband’s parents) go to most of their games and spend a lot of time with that side of the family.

His parents recently bought a new RV to take camping and trips to McCall. They’ve invited my nieces/nephew to go camping with them twice already but haven’t asked my children.

My husband asked his mother why and her response was there isn’t enough room to take them all at once and that she didn’t think my kids would enjoy it.

We feel very left out of their lives and there is definite favoritism happening.

My oldest is starting to see it and I don’t want my kids to hurt or feel left out. What can I do to let them know that it’s not ok to leave my children out just because they don’t enjoy the same activities?
