Dear Mike and Nicole,

My daughter and I had a heart-to-heart talk over the weekend because she wants to take diet pills. She is 14 and says other girls her age are now taking dietary supplements in order to slim down for the summer. My daughter is desperate to wear a bikini and fit in. She says if she doesn't slim down she will be bullied. I'm torn over what to do. If I tell my daughter that she cannot take diet pills, I am worried she may go behind my back and take them anyway. This could lead to a dangerous situation. If I allow her to take diet pills then I could monitor her intake and make sure she does it safely. Is 14 too young to be taking diet pills? What would you do if you were me? If I let her take them, does that make me a bad mom?
