The Meridian Fire Department is actively seeking applicants for student scholarships. Know a local senior graduating this spring with at least a 3.0? Here's what you need to know!

This is fantastic news for local high school class of 2021 seniors that may have interest in becoming fire fighters. The Meridian Fire Department is currently seeking applicants for two $500 scholarships. According to their press release:

The Meridian Fire Department is seeking applications from Meridian students for two $500 scholarships in honor of late Meridian Firefighter, Brandon Erickson. The scholarships are funded by the Brandon Erickson Memorial Scholarship Fund which was created to honor Erickson who died in 2013 after complications from surgery to repair a back injury sustained on duty. Erickson passed at the age of thirty-six (36), after serving with Meridian Fire Department for five years.

The requirements are fairly lenient:

  • Must be graduating in the Spring of 2021
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must enroll in a degree program involving fire science or administration OR an approved paramedic or paramedic science program
  • Application must be postmarked by May 1st, 2021 to be considered for one of the two scholarships.

This is such a cool opportunity for local Treasure Valley high school students that have interest in a career in fire fighting and saving lives! Our local first responders are amazing and brave and they're actively looking for the next generation of fire fighting heroes.
