Meridian Fire Department Offering Free Car Seat Safety Checks
93% of car seats are not installed properly or not up to date. It's little things that could mean life or death if you and your child are involved in an accident. Thankfully, the Meridian Fire Department is offering a Free safety check.
Mark your calendars for February 13th. If you can't make the date, the firefighters are available by appointment, but every parent with kids in car seats should try to make this event to keep our kids as safe as possible.
Meridian is the only city in the state of Idaho that requires firefighter recruits to be certified as car seat technicians. They undergo about 30 hours of formal car seat training to ensure they know whether or not your car seat is safe.
An article on idahonews.com also adds that it is recommended that parents check their car seats once a month to make sure everything is as safe as possible.
This is one of those situations where you may think it will never be you or your child involved in an accident, or you may think you have the best car seat or you are positive that you have installed it correctly, but most of the time the firefighters find an error and you never want to regret not having it checked when it can literally mean the difference between life and death.
Big thanks to our Meridian Fire Fighters for providing this great service.
