It seems like there's quite a bit of confusion over who exactly we honor every year on Memorial Day, it sometimes gets confused with Veteran's Day.

Veteran's Day is November 11th this year and that day is to honor all Veterans, Memorial Day is a bit different.

Memorial Day is is always observed on the last Monday of May and this year it's this coming Monday, the 25th. Memorial Day is to honor those men and women who have died while serving in the United States Military. We can honor them by flying a flag, leaving a flag or flowers at a fallen soldier's grave, visiting a war memorial or monument, truly there are tons of ways you can honor these great Americans.

I just thought it was important to make the distinction. Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial kickoff to summer, it's known for trips to the river or the lake, BBQ's and all kinds of fun, but it's important to note why we have the day.
