Well, maybe it's not so bad here... It could certainly be worse. Let's compare what a million will get you in Washington, D.C. VS a million in actual Idaho!

I'm not saying it's not a housing crisis here in Idaho but as an eternal optimist, I like to find the silver lining in everything, so let's compare. A million dollars on Idaho Ave. in Washington, D.C. and million dollars in Boise, (actual) Idaho.

Let's travel to the capital of the free world, Washington, in the District Of Columbia. It makes sense that in D.C. they would have a street named after every state in the country, including Idaho. Now, Idaho Ave. in D.C. is far different than actual Idaho; from the weather to it's surroundings, it's an entirely different world. In D.C., currently valued at about $1,086,000 is this town house at 3319 Idaho Ave NW.

This is a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom, 1,953 square foot house less than 4 miles away from the White House. It's modern and updated inside but doesn't really feel like a MILLION dollar home, right?

It's an interesting comparison. Has the cost of housing here risen dramatically? Yes, I don't know if I'll ever be able to buy but it could definitely be worse. I wonder what things will look like on Idaho Ave. in D.C. and here in actual Idaho in another ten years or so.
