For just the third time in thirty years, an iconic floating restaurant on Lake Coeur d'Alene is closed because of flooding…wait, what the heck…it floats so why is it closed? Well the restaurant is fine…but unfortunately you can’t get there…

Year after year, this restaurant located in North Idaho on Lake Coeur d'Alene is heralded as one of Idaho's most unique and iconic floating restaurants. Here in Southwestern Idaho we received above normal levels of snow and rain this past winter, but it was nothing like what Coeur d'Alene received. l Have two sisters who live there and they shared pictures through out the winter showing up to 4 feet of snow at times in their back yard. Well eventually that snow in and around the city melts and has to go somewhere and that place is the lake, which, like Boise is causing problems right now with flooding..

According to a spokesperson with Cedars, the building itself should be fine, because, well it floats, but the ramp to get to the building and parking lot are both flooded. The restaurant is now closed until further notice.

A tugboat was used to keep Cedars from floating away and even though employees can’t yet get into the restaurant to check on it because of the flooding, officials say everything should be fine inside the eatery…they just have to wait for high water to recede so that people can park and walk up to the ramp into the restaurant…They hope to reopen by the end of this week....the good news..that it doesn't look like there is any permanent damage to the eatery
