BackgroundChecks.org recently posted their findings on how each state ranked for  dangerous online dating. Ranking were based on violent crime, common STD infection rates, and frequency of identity theft...how did Idaho rank?

With Tinder, OkCupid, Hinge, Match.com and more all dominating the dating world lately, it's easy to see how the percentage of people using these apps has nearly tripled in the past four years.

According to PewResearch.org, 27% of 18 to 24 year olds are now using online dating to meet others as opposed to only 10% in 2013. Unfortunately, with a rise in usage there has also been a rise in the number of assaults, rapes, and identity theft scams associated with cyber-dating.

BackgroundChecks.org recently posted their ranking of the most dangerous and most safe states:

The top five most dangerous states are:

1. Missouri

2. Florida

3. Louisiana

4. Maryland

5. Nevada

The top five safest states are:

1. Vermont

2. Maine

3. Idaho

4. Utah

5. Wyoming

Yes, our state made the top 3 for online dating safety! Back in the early 2000s, it seemed as though most Americans viewed online dating as a subpar way of meeting someone. Now that the stigma of making an online connection has all but disappeared, it's nice to know that Idaho is one of the safest places out there to do so.
