Caldwell Man Drinks Alcohol Then Takes Off with 3 Year Old In His Car
Oh, this is not ok. This guy gets into a domestic dispute after boozing and then grabs a three-year-old and takes off in his pickup truck.
50-year-old Jeffery Southern had been drinking throughout the day according to the woman he got into a domestic fight with. Then at about 10:26 p.m. on Tuesday police were called to the scene of a fight at a mobile home park in Caldwell.
The woman went on to tell police that Southern has mental health issues and that he had grabbed a butcher knife and threatened to kill her.
There were three children home at the time of the threat and Southern grabbed the three-year-old and took off with her in his truck while he was intoxicated.
Southern hit 80 mph in a 25 mph zone with no lights on and he ended up hitting a power pole at 21st Avenue and Chicago Street. 5 bottles of beer were found in his truck according to idahonews.com.
Southern ended up being caught when someone called police after Jeffery knocked on their door and asked for gasoline while slurring his words.
Thankfully the three-year-old was mostly ok. The child was found glass in their hair and no safety seat.
After blowing a .124 and a .123 on his breathalyzer tests, Southern has been booked into the Canyon County Jail on charges of felony injury to a child, driving under the influence, aggravated assault, failure to report striking a fixture, and two counts of eluding a police officer.
Thank goodness that poor sweet child is o.k.!
