Thanksgiving week is here, and you know what that means, it's almost time for both of Boise's annual tree lightings! Being a part of these ceremonies is one of my family's favorite ways to kick off the holiday season and start the countdown to Christmas.

Here's all the details you need to know to get your family involved, too:

The Downtown Boise Tree Lighting at the Grove Plaza is this Black Friday, November 24th at 5:30pm.

Admission is FREE and families in attendance can sing along with carolers and participate in a candle lighting ceremony led by Boise's Mayor, Dave Bieter.

Going to be too tired from shopping on Friday? You can always catch the Grove's sister tree being lit across town the following Monday.

The Idaho State Capitol Tree Lighting will be held Monday, November 27th with Governor Butch Otter and First Lady, Lori Otter, officiating. The ceremony begins with music at 5pm. Guests will be served hot chocolate, cider, and cookies as they wait for the tree to be lit. Admission, as always, is FREE.
