When the West Boise YMCA and Boise City Aquatic Center was built in 1995, they put in a time capsule to be opened in 2020. Check out what they found, including one very eerie prediction!

This past Sunday (11/8) I was going for a swim at the West Boise YMCA, enjoying the fact that I could go for a swim while there was snow on the mountains outside. I remember noticing a group of people that were a little over dressed for the pool but I paid it no mind. As it turns out, they were opening a time capsule that was put into the pool area back on November 8th, 1995. Man, has the world changed. There were some predictions; some that are way off and one that was very eerily close to our 2020 reality!

If you make a visit to the West Boise YMCA, their time capsule findings are on display for you to find. Interestingly, back in 1995, The Simpson's was a big deal, which is crazy because it's still going pretty strong today. There were VHS tapes and old video games, lots of old lapel pins, but perhaps most interestingly, a 2020 prediction from a Centennial High School student that read,

"You know, we'll probably be using computers a lot to learn at home but there will be a debate whether that's actually good for kids or not."

Think about how specific to 2020 that reality really is. Learning from home, whether or not it's good for kids. Pretty crazy! The area surrounding the West Boise YMCA at the time was largely rural and is now mostly developed. Wow, how things have changed!
