A local car dealer is turning over the keys to a 2018 Subaru Outback to Metro Meals on Wheels today, and it will help the group serve 600 more meals each month.  Score!

The donation is in celebration of Subaru of America, Inc.’s 50th anniversary, and to mark the moment they're donating 50 vehicles to select Meals on Wheels programs across the country.  Boise's Larry H. Miller Subaru will handle the local donation at 10:30am today.

Metro Meals on Wheels says the donation will help them serve 20 additional seniors,  with 600 more meals each month. And it will also increase service in that area from one day a week to three days a week.  They're already serving 900-plus senior citizens in Boise and throughout Ada County each weekday, and over 700 every weekend. That takes a lot of volunteers!

Meals on Wheels is constantly cooking, wrapping, and delivering.  If you want to volunteer, you can apply at MetroMealsonWheels.net .  Some volunteers work one or two lunch hours per week, and others work more.  They'll work it around your schedule.

And you might be driving those meals around in a brand new Subaru.
