A Boise Teen Fighting Cancer Has a Request: Postcards
Want to help a Boise teen fighting cancer? You can, and it's as simple as writing a post card to let him know you're thinking about him.
I saw this story on KIVI 6 On Your Side and wanted to share this in case you, like me, think this would be an awesome thing to take part in.
Jorge Ibanez-Ruiz is in the middle of a battle against osteosarcoma (a rare bone cancer) that started when it was discovered in June. He's being treated at St. Luke's Children's Hospital.
As you would expect, it's a hard situation for his entire family, and especially for Jorge, but that's a few minutes of our time and a postcard could make a difference.
His family said get-well cards from friends had really improved Jorge's spirit, so noticing the impact, his parents came up with the idea of celebrating his 15th birthday (coming up on the 13th) with a ton of postcards from well-wishers in our community. The point is to show him love, and hopefully, boost his spirits.
Jorge is set for surgery a week after his birthday, so hopefully an outpouring from the Treasure Valley will help him face it with optimism and strength.
You can send your postcard wishing him well to:
2837 West Malad Street.
Boise, ID 83705
