Idaho is  one of the best states in the country. If you don’t believe me google how many times Idaho shows up on a top ten lists. It has amazingly beautiful landscapes and vistas, a culture that is extremely varied with awesome friendly people, and a laid back way of life that can’t be found anywhere else. But like other areas of the country, living here comes with its own risks. Here are the 16 biggest dangers of living in Idaho

Thanks to an article I read about the top dangers of living Idaho from onlyinyourstate.com, I got to thinking about those and other dangers and thought I would share, in the hopes that it would also inspire you to ad to the risks and dangers of living in Idaho.

  1. You’ll definitely run the risk of catching a record-breaking fish and even if it isn’t record breaking, you can easily find places to catch fish over 8 feet long (Sturgeon) although you’d find it dangerous, (as in big fine and or Jail time) if you kept it .

  1. You’ll also have too many places to visit… and never ever enough time to do so.

  1. You’ll move to Idaho with the intent of staying for a short time and then moving on to bigger and better things, but like me you’ll find yourself unable to leave the best place you’ve ever lived

  1. Look to the sky for some of the most incredible views you will ever see. I’ve lived here for most my life and I’m still blown away by the moonless night sky on my parent’s ranch and the beauty that is the Milky Way, when seen away from city lights. Try it some time, get out of town and look up in awe and wonder why you'd live anywhere else.

  1. Speaking of looking up…very few other sunsets will ever compare to Idaho’s vibrant evening displays…..other sunsets may be prettier, but you will never see the varying display of beauty you get from sunsets during harvest time in the late summer.

  1. Wild Fires…while extremely dangerous and devastating, you can’t deny the power and yes even the beauty in some cases of forest fires. Sometimes that beauty isn’t recognized till years or decades later after the scars have healed.

  1. Realizing that the quiet serenity of rural life beats crowded, urban city scapes any day is a real danger…

  1. Even if you don’t think you like the outdoors, you will come to love the outdoors, because of the diversity of everything you can do

9. Wildlife… while wondrous and varied, can kill you…bear attacks, moose buffalo stampedes, rattlesnake bites or a moose trampling you...even if it’s cute and cuddly, there’s a good chance it could kill you

10. You run the risk of being totally mesmerized by the near perfect weather…it really              is never too hot or too cold, compared to other places…

  1. No oceans, but still some of the best beach and waterfront views you’ll find anywhere....just don't fall asleep in the sun...skin cancer can kill you.

  1. You’ll probably learn more Idaho history in one day of ghost and mining town exploring than you would in in all your years of high school, but don't step in the wrong spot and fall down a mine shaft....you could DIE.

13. You’ll get spoiled by all of the wildlife right outside your front door. Working downtown next to the greenbelt, I have, in my years of working for Mix 106 seen, deer, baby deer, elk, coyotes, foxes, raccoons, geese and goslings, ducks and ducklings, ferrets, squirrels, chipmunks and more. Not too many urban areas the size of Boise that you can enjoy the type of wildlife we have here and a regular basis

14.  You’ll never truly be bored to death. With so much to do in the Treasure Valley and      throughout the state, if you get bored you have nobody to blame but yourself

15 Even though you have a variety of activities, they can KILL you. Every year Idaho         is home to numerous accidents where people are seriously hurt or killed while              bike riding, rock climbing, hiking or rafting

  1. Knowing you’ll never be able to live anywhere else… or at least be happy about it because nowhere else can measure up.
