A viral video on TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram has been making the rounds for the past few years. Still, it's a good time to remind people again that a zip tie, anywhere on your car, is not something to mess around with. If you see it, run back to where you just came from or get in your vehicle, lock your doors, and leave immediately. That's the advice that some police departments are giving as these zip ties are becoming more frequent.

Zip ties aren't the only thing to be wary of. If you return to your car and see a sticker or any other item that might mark your vehicle from others, it should be treated with extreme caution.

According to the social media posts and several in law enforcement all over the country, a zip tie on your car, regardless of where it is placed, could be a sign to another person who is involved in sex trafficking that you are alone. It is also meant to distract you. While your attention is on the zip tie or other marker, you become vulnerable to someone who may try to do you harm.

Police are encouraging all Idahoans to be extremely cautious whenever they see something placed on their vehicles, no matter how weird or innocent they look.
