I have had something on my heart for the last couple months.  A deep desire to find people making a difference - making the world better - learn from them and share my appreciation.  To find everyday people doing things that make our world a better place.

Of all things, an airline in Canada (WestJet - who you might recall did the Christmas gift miracle flight that went viral a few years ago) has started a campaign featuring uplifting people and their stories.

The story of Josh Yandt is one most of us can understand (no matter what side of the equation we were on...participant or just spectator).  A kid being bullied and the cruelty that he felt.  Josh flipped things around though, when he made a change, and in the process changed those around him.

"Opening a door is more than a physical act. It's about putting yourself out there, getting to know people, making them feel comfortable, and making them feel welcome."

I hope to be someone who opens doors - both metaphorically and literally - and hope that I will be able to follow his lead.

Well done WestJet in highlighting this and other stories like it.  See more stories of people going above and beyond the call of duty at http://aboveandbeyond.ca
