This Is Just Insanely Sad

I came across this video on my Facebook feed, and it's just the most randomly sad thing.  A guy releases his pet falcon, who immediately flies into a truck.  Huh?

I don't know what it is about this whole thing that made me watch it a few times, but was it not obvious the highway was right beside them?  Was there no other place?  My heart breaks for the owner as he doubles-over.  Just strange.
