Idaho is full of storytellers. Visual linguists who have the ability to put an idea on to the big screen. This weekend the "Les Bois Film Festival" returns to Downtown Boise at the Egyptian Theater. With the success of last year's one-day festival, year two is looking even better.

For many years the Land Trust Of The Treasure Valley brought the Scenic Film Festival to Boise that showcased the natural beauty of the Gem State.

Similar to the ever popular Banff Film Festival this one-day event was created to highlight some of the best and brightest upcoming film makers and show case this amazing state that we call home every day.  With over 20 films from local and out of state aspiring filmmakers, the shorts and longer length movies will be shown on 3 screens. Not only will local film makers shorts be seen International artists also have submitted. Last year films all the way from Singapore, Australia, and The Netherlands were part of what made the first festival so memorable that doing it again was a no-brainer. Silent auctions, as well as fundraising, are all part of the plans for the day.

Looking over some of these films after watching that trailer make me super excited for the up and coming filmmaker. These are some massively talented individuals who I have no doubt could end up on the Oscar stage just like many we saw last weekend. There are three different categories of films that are going to be showing throughout the day.

  • Starting at 11 A.M. the Documentary Film Premiere of Souls of the Vermillion Sea followed by an open discussion about the process of making documentaries and the impact on filmmakers.
  • A 2 P.M. Screenings Session of 8 films
  • 7 P.M. Screening Session two of 11 more films.

A full list of films can be found on the festival's website lesboisfilmfestival.org  Bogus Basin is also playing a part in the festival as a film that features the ski destination was submitted and accepted.

Doors open this Saturday March 4th at 6pm and films start rolling at 7. To find out more about the "Les Bois Film Festival" follow this link.
