Last Night’s Storm Did Some Damage at My House
Yesterday had been a pretty clam weather day. Warm, a little bit overcast, and then suddenly around 6 p.m., what I heard some call a microburst hit my neighborhood.
I live on the west side of Meridian (near Chinden and 10 Mile), and I was getting ready to do some yard work. I had looked outside and realized there were some significant clouds, but figured it was more of the general overcast we had seen throughout the day.
That quickly changed as the wind picked up out of nowhere.
I put the mower back in the garage and quickly grabbed my tools. I dropped the umbrella at the patio table, and started to head inside. I don't know if you experienced it the same way I did, but in what felt like a matter of minutes, a dust storm kicked up, and the wind got crazy.
So crazy that after the storm died down about 20 minutes later, I found two of my trees had been affected.
The large tree in front of my house had a large limb that had now cracked and was resting on others. The tree in the backyard that hadn't seemed very healthy was now pulled up from the ground and resting in the fence.
Fortunately, no one was hurt and the only damage sustained seems to be 3-4 fence slats, but that was an incredibly powerful storm and seemingly came out of nowhere.
I've got tree services on the way to take care of damage and trim up my trees. Hope things at your place came through alright too.
