Three Jeopardy! Contestants From Idaho
In the wake of the loss of the great Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek, we take a look at three of Idaho's contestants you may actually know, who made it on the show.
Over the weekend, the news broke that longtime Jeopardy! host, Alex Trebek, passed away at the age of 80. According to the show's Executive Producer, Trebek's final shows were taped less than two weeks before his passing and will air as originally planned.
Jeopardy! contestants came from all corner of the world, even some from right here in Idaho. Let's take a look at some of the notable ones, maybe you'll remember, and maybe you'll even know them.
- Back in March of 2018, Eagle resident and Idaho Falls native AJ Freeman made an appearance on just one game of Jeopardy! after applying five times.
- Back in 2011, a Moscow, Idaho man by the name of Mark Runsvold actually won over $150,000 in Final Jeopardy! Runsvold was a University of Idaho student who appeared on seven episodes of the game show.
- And just last year (2019), a Declo, Idaho man by the name of Dan Martson had the honor of standing on Trebek's stage for two episodes. Martson is a forklift operator with extensive trivia knowledge, according to EastIdahoNews.com
These are just a few Idahoan Jeopardy! contestants from recent years. Trebek hosted the famous game show for 34 years, dating back to the early 1980's and has since become one of America's beloved treasures. You'll surely be missed, Alex.
