Babies conceived during quarantine this year are going to start making their way into the world in the next month or so. Babycenter.com has released its report on 2020's most popular baby names just in time for parents to find out how basic their name choices are. You'll see in a moment why I'm biased, but sometimes the most basic names are the cutest!

Here are the monikers we're seeing most in 2020:

Boys                                                                    Girls

1LiamSofia
2NoahOlivia
3JacksonRiley
4AidenEmma
5ElijahAva
6GraysonIsabella
7LucasAria
8OliverAaliyah
9CadenAmelia
10MateoMia

(Babycenter)

I must point out that both my kids' names land in the top 10 for boys. I have an Aiden and a Liam. I'd like to think I'm more creative than to pick such normal names, but I like what I like! Their full names roll off the tongue nicely and I have no regrets...most of the time. Aiden always having to tack on the first letter of his last name at school to differentiate from all the other Aidens must be a little frustrating for him. I'm sure Liam will face the same problem. We might start calling him Grey (his middle name) for that reason.

The top names for babies here in Idaho overlaps some with the national list:

Boys                                                               Girls

1LiamOlivia
2WilliamEmma
3OliverEvelyn
4JamesAva
5WyattHarper
6LoganSophia
7ElijahAvery
8LucasCharlotte
9JacksonElizabeth
10NoahAbigail

(Babynamewizard)

Liam is still number 1 for boys, while Sophia drops a few spots for girls. More traditional names made it on the Idaho girls list though. I picture Charlottes, Abigails, and Elizabeths throwing fancy tea parties. And they'll invite Williams to join. Clearly I think those names go together.

Do you think the pandemic will drastically change this list for the next year? I have a feeling quarantine is giving parents more time to mull over names and get more creative. Perhaps Covid inspired names? Pandemianna for a girl, maybe?
