Do you ever go into your laundry and find a random $20 bill? There's something magical about the feeling that overcomes you and if we're being completely honest, that's kind of how a class action settlement can feel.

File your taxes online in the last few years?

According to a website for the Intuit Multi-State Settlement, you're eligible to receive money if you paid to file your federal taxes when you were able to file free through the IRS Free File Program. The $141 million settlement was announced on May 4, 2022, and there are still customers who haven't claimed their share.

Emails were sent out to TurboTax customers who were "deceived into paying for tax preparation services that should have been free for them."

Payments were mailed through May of this year with amounts estimated to be between $29 and $30 according to AGTurboTaxSettlement.com. This author actually received an email reminder yesterday (7/25) that a settlement check had not yet been cashed.

Whether it's $5 or $30, finding random money (especially in the form of class action settlements) is always nice.
