Darden Restaurants, the parent company of Olive Garden, Yard House and other popular chain restaurants that can be found here in the Treasure Valley, announced a new minimum pay of $10/hour, including tips. Per their press release:

"While we are proud that, on average, our hourly restaurant team members earn more than $17 per hour today, starting Monday, every hourly restaurant team member will earn at least $10 per hour, which includes tip income — increasing to $11 an hour in January 2022 and $12 an hour in January 2023. Continuing to attract and retain the best talent in the industry will be critical to our success, and this commitment further solidifies our position as the employer of choice in full-service dining."

From prep cooks to bussers, servers to bartenders and pretty much everything in between, Olive Garden has openings at their Boise and Nampa locations. Yard House is also looking for bussers, servers and other great positions at their Meridian location at The Village. These are great restaurants with incredible reputations and it's pretty impressive that they could make a move like this during a pandemic that has severely impacted their businesses for the last year.
