3 Children at Rigby Middle School have been injured with a person in custody after the scary Thursday shooting. This is only 4 hours away from Boise.
I have to tell you that I've been on-air as a radio personality for every school shooting since the Columbine High School Massacre. We broke the news and stayed on during the Sandy Hook shooting. It's never easy to break that kind of tragic news especially when children are losing their lives. Luckily, nobody was killed during this terrible shooting just hours away from our schools right here in Boise.
A sixth-grade female student walked into Rigby Middle School on Thursday with a handgun according to police officials. Luckily, a teacher was able to disarm the student and detain her until authorities arrived on the scene. This teacher is a hero to all the students in that school because things could have ended tragically for many students and faculty.
Today we had the worst nightmare a school district could encounter We had a school shooting here at Rigby Middle School. What we know so far is the shooter has been apprehended. There is no further threat to the students.
That comes from Jefferson School District Superintendent Chad Martin during a press conference and interview with KIFI.
We also saw Governor Brad Little make a statement earlier.
Sadly, this falls on the day Gov. Brad Little proclaims today National Prayer Day across the great state of Idaho. We pray for everyone's speedy recovery and our thanks should go out to that teacher that saved the day. We still have little information and that will surely come soon. More importantly, the tragedy we watch online just showed that it can reach our sweet Idaho.
That should scare us all. These kids are minors and you probably won't see names or personal information yet.
