Volunteers with St. Vincent de Paul have conquered the enormous task of boxing up nearly two thousand Thanksgiving meals for those in need, and those families are picking up those dinners today.  And there may be extras for you.

If you've been on the donating end of something like this before, you know that you're given a list of things to shop for, and it can be a fun adventure taking the kids on that shopping trip with you.  The kids get to imagine what it might be like to be in someone else's shoes, and as adults we can be glad that we did a little something to share the Thanksgiving vibe with others.

KTVB says inside those boxes there are ingredients for a pie, cranberry sauce, and fresh and canned vegetables, and more.  And everyone who registered will also get a turkey, a 10-pound bag of potatoes and a roasting pan.

Many families picked up the Thanksgiving dinners on Monday, and others will pick them up today at Expo Idaho between 8am and 5pm.  If there are any leftover meals today at 5pm, organizers plan to give those away too.  There are no guarantees, but if you could use a boost with the Thanksgiving meal, you just might be able to get a generous handout this evening from the folks at St. Vincent de Paul.

Happy Thanksgiving.
