Help a Boise Child Receive a New Bike for Christmas
We've been fortunate to experience a whole lot of joy here at Mix 106 this holiday season. From Mike & Nicole's Christmas Elves...The 12 Strays of Christmas and being a part of my wife's company in helping local children get a Christmas.... there's no shortage of heartwarming stories and tears. Christmas truly is the time for giving and, if you haven't yet been able to find a way to give back to our community this season, I invite you to be a part of this wonderful opportunity to help every child receive the enjoyment of their very own bicycle.
Every year at this time the Boise Bicycle Project hosts their Christmas Kids Bike Giveaway. Children are referred to this giveaway by their schools, after school programs, social workers, and local non-profits.
These children are facing hardships in their life and many have never owned a bicycle. Boise Bicycle Project believes that these gifts are so much more than just bikes - they are the rolling connection between a child and the community, the freedom you felt when leaving the driveway for the first time, the independence of reaching where you need to go.
Boise Bicycle Project's Christmas Kids Bike Giveaway is this Saturday, December 16 from 9am-2pm at 1027 S Lusk Street in Boise.
There are a wide variety of volunteer opportunities available or, if you feel so inclined, monetary donations are accepted. You can also donate your no-longer-needed kids bikes and BBP will fix them up into riding condition.
