One of the greatest things I love about my job is that I have the opportunity to meet interesting people and listeners at our events. Mix106 was at an event downtown this week and I stopped by for a few minutes. I had only planed to pop in and say hey but a gentleman sat down next to me and we struck up a conversation. Have you ever one of those talks where you feel like 20 minutes has passed but it was really 2 hours?

Jack Rhines is a Veteran of the Armed Forces and a recent Idaho convert. He and wife moved from Southern California once they discovered the hidden gem we call the Treasure Valley. Three years strong now he told me that he will never leave the state again. Our conversation started out as a simple chat between two generations, to seeing eye to eye on musical choices, the History of our Nation and the Great State of Idaho. It was such a great sit down, just shooting the breeze learning about each other. Jack told me that he is an Arial pilot and belongs to a club that I'm pretty sure many of us may not know about . The Top Fun Flyers. This group of pilots gather and fly Experimental, Vintage and Light Sport Aircraft all over the state.

It was really amazing to see the passion in his eyes and hear how much he loved flying. The group meets everything last Thursday of the month, and coming up April 2nd is an Annual BBQ . The Flyer's pilot all different kinds of aircraft and compete with other members in skills challenges. Here is a video from a few years ago when they landed on a designated spot of the runway that was sectioned out.

I had a  great time learning more about Jack, and The Top Fun Flyers. Idaho is full of really interesting people. You never know who you are going to meet, take a few extra minutes to stop and smell the roses. You might make a new friend. -JD
