There are a ton of awesome restaurants in the Treasure Valley, with new ones popping up all the the time. Mala Luna recently debuted, bringing the flavors of a Latin kitchen to Downtown Boise. And as much as I love exploring what the Treasure Valley has to offer, I know there's more out there if I'm willing to make the drive. A road trip to Jackpot, Nevada proved me right when my girlfriends and I stopped along the way at Elevation 486 for what turned out to be a glorious dining experience.

Located in Twin Falls, Elevation 486 gets its name from its altitude above the Snake River: 486 vertical feet. This "one-in-a-million location [is] perched on the south rim of The Canyon," which I can personally attest makes for an incredible view.

With spring finally in bloom, you can sit outside and enjoy seeing this right over your shoulder as you sip on a handcrafted cocktail and nosh on onion rings.

If you're like me and prefer indoor dining, don't worry. You can still soak up the view and the sunshine through the expansive windows overlooking the Snake River. They absolutely aren't blocking away one of the things that makes this place so special.

But they don't only rely on the proximity to The Canyon as its only selling point. The website immediately mentions cocktails and desserts with pride. My party was offered and shown a gorgeous pecan cheesecake that was the hot ticket item of the day. We skipped out, but noticed several diners enjoying the tasty treat. We stuck to cocktails and lunch, which earned high marks.

My girlfriend had the B.L.A.S.T. (Bacon, lettuce, avocado, sprouts, and turkey) which she described as "Super good! Especially on the buttery wheat toast." She also had the skinny fries which was my menu selection too. They disappeared quickly, which tells you what you need to know.

As for the cocktails, the menu is HUGE. Draft beers, martinis, specialty shots, wines, dessert drinks-- it would take the whole summer to get through it all. I had a huckleberry mimosa that initially I was iffy about, but after the second one I realized I was a fan. Another girlfriend went off book and asked for a spiked strawberry lemonade. They hooked her up with the lemonade and a shot of her choosing to spike it herself, which was kind of hilarious.

It was such a fun, fresh vibe and the staff was super friendly. Our server kindly took a group photo for us and even offered to follow us out for an outdoor photo if we wanted, but we were lazy for that.

There's really only one major thing I take issue with at Elevation 486. I wanted to go back for Mother's Day celebration time, but they are tragically closed on Sundays. Other than that, it's definitely a place you should visit at least once. If only for the view and plate fries.
