Seriously, Why Is Boise So Obsessed With Kellen Moore?
It doesn't take much digging to see that Boise is obsessed with Kellen Moore. Anytime a media outlet posts a story about him, the engagement goes through the roof, and social media posts get shared and liked. All for a guy who, yes, had a lot of success as the Boise State quarterback but never made anything of himself at the next level.

Moore, who was just named the Head Coach of the New Orleans Saints. At just 36 years old, he is the NFL's youngest head coach. The players seem lukewarm about the idea of him taking over the team. Usually, a team would be thrilled to have the offensive coordinator of the Super Bowl-winning team become their new leader. It might have something to do with the fact that no one knows how much of his influence was on the Eagles this year. They looked like the team that went to the Super Bowl in 2023.
Still, Boise doesn't like to hear the negative about their favorite son, who is actually from Washington and wouldn't return Boise State's calls when they needed a head coach a few years ago. He was the team's most decorated player until Ashton Jeanty became the greatest player in Broncos history, capped off by a trip to the College Football Playoff and a near miss for the Heisman Trophy.
No NFL scouts ever thought Kellen Moore would be a starting quarterback at the next level. In fact, while Ashton Jeanty will likely be a first-round draft pick, the great Kellen Moore wasn't even drafted. He signed with the Lions after the draft. His entire NFL career consists of three games. Yes, he only played three games in his six-year professional football career. Still, Ashton Jeanty hasn't had a mural painted in his honor like Kellen Moore.
We could give him a statue next to Abraham Lincoln in Ann Morrison Park. If we did, more people would visit Kellen's statue than Honest Abe's because despite how good or bad he's been since 2011, Boise remains obsessed.
Is Boise obsessed with him or the "good old days?" Maybe the current decision-makers in the city were students at Boise State or were in the coolest phase of their lives 15 years ago when Kellen was slinging it on the Blue. Maybe he just reminds us of a time when we were happier. When Boise was more affordable, there was less inflation, fewer people, and we had less responsibilities.
Whatever the reason Boise is still enamored with Kellen Moore, there is no doubt that Boise will be cheering for the Saints for the foreseeable future.
