As the South Meridian YMCA's new aquatics facility gets set to open, Treasure Valley YMCA is holding an aquatics hiring event. Here's everything you need to know!

The Treasure Valley YMCA is growing. In addition to their Downtown Boise, Caldwell and West Boise Aquatics Centers, they're preparing to open a new, state-of-the art aquatics center at their newest location in South Meridian. With a new aquatics center with three pools, and tons of swim lanes, comes the need for lifeguards and other aquatics staff.

To be a bit more specific, they've announced via a Facebook event invite, that they'll be hiring for lifeguards, swim instructors and water fitness instructors. The hiring event will be a Covid friendly, safe, socially distanced event and they request that, if you're interested, you schedule an interview time online here.

Some of the skills you have the opportunity to learn in a job like this are major life skills; like CPR for example, which is one thing I've always said I'd learn before I have kids because I would never want to lose a child to drowning. This seems like it would be a very rewarding job and if you're a life guard hopefully you won't ever have to save someone from drowning, but if you do, I'm sure you'll feel really proud that you did.

The South Meridian YMCA and Aquatics Center is located at 5155 South Howry Lane in Meridian, and last I spoke with them, they plan to be open to the public this June!

The U.S. Census 2019 American Community Survey and America's Health Rankings Senior Report 2019 data were also used to provide demographics on the senior population of each state and the state's rank on senior health care, respectively.
