Treefort Music Festival to Impact Downtown Boise Traffic
Here a fort. There a fort. Everywhere a fort fort. Oh...and orange barrels and blockades.
Downtown Boise's economy is expecting a second booming weekend as the 2018 Treefort Music Fest opens less than a week after Taco Bell Arena hosted the first rounds of the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. During the tournament, the Idaho Press Tribune estimates over 30,000 fans attended the games and between paying for lodging, food and picking up some souvenirs from what was likely their first trip to the Gem State, pumped about $15 million into the local economy.
Foot traffic through Downtown Boise is expected to be larger than normal this weekend as the Treefort Music Fest takes over more than 30 venues for live music, beer tasting, comedy shows, technology talks, film screenings and more. Coming off their most successful year ever in 2017, organizers expect more than 18,000 fans to check out one of the forts March 21-March 25.
For the safety of concert goers and to set up some of the venues, road closures will be in place. If your weekend plans take you into Downtown Boise for a reason other than attending the festival, leave early and be prepared for the following road closures.
