Text “FOOD” to Find Free Summer Meals for Kids
Summer is the hungriest time of the year.
Millions of kids rely on school meals. During the school year, many low-income children have access to nutritious meals through their school’s free-and-reduced breakfast and lunch program. Unfortunately, on the weekends and summer break, these same children go without food. Our annual MIX 106 Backpack Buddies program with the Idaho Foodbank is something that helps fill that need for so many kids in the Treasure Valley. But sometimes, the struggle is so great that other programs are needed.
If you have a school-aged student in need of FREE summer meals in your neighborhood, just text “FOOD” to 877-877 (or “comida” for a reply in Spanish).
Summer break doesn't have to mean summer hunger!
