Ten Digit Phone Number Dialing Won’t be Optional After August
After August 5, if you try to make a call without dialing an area code you will get a recording that says to hang up and try again.
You will have to dial the full 10-digit phone number, including area code 208 or Idaho’s second area code 986, which will be issued to new users starting September 5.
To make the transition easier, you can update your frequently called contacts saved in your cell phone to add the area code. Otherwise, every time you call someone without a saved area code, you'll get the recording and that will get frustrating!
