Searching For Boise’s Best Bloody Mary Breakfast: Stop #2–Grant’s in Meridian
I LOVE a good Bloody Mary with a great breakfast chaser. That's why over the next few months, I Mike Kasper will be sacrificing my Sunday mornings in search of the best Bloody Mary Breakfast in the Treasure Valley.
Originally, I was going to just search for the Best Bloody Mary, but it's not good to drink on an empty stomach, and the Treasure Valley is full of amazing places to eat breakfast so I changed my search in an attempt to kill two birds with one mouth, so to speak. I am in search of the Treasure Valley's best Bloody Mary Breakfast.
So after trying a new different place every week or so, as my schedule allows, I will share with you how I liked or loved the Bloody Mary the establishment serves plus how I liked their breakfast.
I also continue to encourage you to share places that you've found for amazing bloody Marys or great breakfasts by emailing me at mike.kasper@townsquaremedia.com....The only prerequisite is the the establishment must serve Bloody Marys and breakfast, because I am after all searching for the best Bloody Mary Breakfast.
My second stop on my whirlwind tour was a little neighbor hood spot in Meridian called Grant's Neighborhood Grill. Grant's is a little out of the way hole in the wall in Meridian at 1835 W Cherry Lane. It's very small with seating for around 20 people. We decided to invite friends who also love Bloody Mary's and also food to go along with us. They are known for their "The Mother" Bloody Mary. It's huge, so my wife and I shared. It's a vodka bloody mary that also is after my own heart and includes all this: Pancake breaded bacon, sautéed shrimp, sausage burger slider, pickled asparagus, green olives, and celery. It was delicious and you can never go wrong with deep fried pancake bacon. I give it an 8.5 out of 10.
For breakfast I had the Grant Skillet with bacon, potatoes, peppers, onion, cheese, mushrooms, spinach, eggs and toast. Unfortunately, my potatoes were not done and I had to send them back. They explained they were training a new cook...They quickly gave me a whole new order with potatoes that were done this time, plus they didn't charge me. Very classy move on their part.
My wife had the Eggs Florentine.Spinach and house smoked salmon & biscuit with poached egg and Hollandaise sauce. She of course allowed me to try hers...just for investigative purposes...(wink wink) I give our breakfasts a 6 out of 10.
By far the highlight of our breakfast was the Bloody Mary. Grant's serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with a full bar. Their menu is always changing and they come highly recommended.
OK,for those of you keeping score at home, after stopping at Bardenay in Eagle and Grant's Neighborhood Grill in Meridian I'm continuing to make out my list of upcoming stops.
My next stop will be Fork in downtown Boise...where we will be celebrating our friends anniversary. I've heard a lot of good things about their Bloody Mary and I love their dinners, but have never visited for Breakfast...so I'm looking forward to it the next week.
I'm already planning to hit Homestead Bar & Grill in Meridian, Bacon in downtown Boise, and Twin Peaks, home of the "make your Own Bloody Mary and Omelet Bar, but once again if you know of an amazing Bloody Mary Breakfast bar some where hidden in some corner of the Treasure Valley please let me know so I can sample them and let everyone else know too.
And I'm searching the entire Treasure Valley, so if you know of an awesome place in Nampa or Caldwell etc. please drop me an email and tell me about it....mike.kasper@townsquaremedia.com. I look forward to hearing from you.
....and for those who love to make your own Bloody Mary's...here's a video showing who I make mine every year for Thanksgiving Morning.
