Rally at the Capitol Will Highlight Boise Pride Week
The rainbow banners are up, and that means Boise Pridefest is not far away. The rally at the Idaho State Capitol will happen June 16th, but there are plenty of other events that anyone can be part of between now and then.
City crews put up the rainbow-colored banners on Friday throughout Downtown Boise, and they'll be up for the next two weeks and through all of the Pride events. The banners include the hashtag #IAmBoise, and we're already seeing it on social media.
Performances across the city kick off this Friday, June 8 at several different venues. On Saturday, June 9th it's the Boise AIDS walk. There's a VIP cocktail meet and greet Thursday, June 14 at Amsterdam Lounge plus a comedy night at The Balcony Club. And Friday, June 15 in Cecil D. Andrus Park (formerly Capitol Park) they're planning live music with recording artist Steve Grand.
The parade and rally at the State Capitol are always part of an impressive culmination of the week's events, and those things will happen on Saturday, June 16th. It's a festive day with food, music, and entertainment in Cecil D. Andrus Park.
All of the Boise Pride events are laid out on the Pridefest website, which points out that - for the 29th time - this will be Idaho’s largest Pride event of the year. In 2017, the Boise Police Department estimated that around 35,000+ people attended Boise Pride Festival events.
The Grove Hotel in Downtown Boise is the official hotel of Pridefest this year.
There will be plenty of places that will be hosting parties and celebrations, and we'll watch for you live, and online with #IAmBoise. Have fun, you deserve it.
